Guess what: 2023 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe will cost more. GM authority reports that two of GM’s full-size cash makers will be a little more fruitful next year, as recommended prices for both vehicles rise by $ 500. The news comes two months after the $ 1,600 increase applied to the twins. Chevy, as well as the GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade. This means we won’t be surprised to find that the other two family hauliers get their prices reduced by that much or more every time those charges are announced.

For the 2023 Tahoe, that means the entry-level LS with two-wheel drive and the standard 5.3-liter V8 starts at $ 54,295 after the $ 1,795 destination fare. Swapping for the inline six-cylinder 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel costs $ 995, sending power to the front axle adds $ 3,000. The higher-trimmed Tahoe High Country will start at $ 73,395 with its standard 3.0-liter Duramax and rear-wheel drive, or $ 74,895 for the upgrade to the 6.2-liter gas-powered V8.

The Suburban 2023 climbs to an entry point of $ 56,995 for an LS pusher. The model surpasses $ 80,595 for a High Country with the 6.2-liter V8 and all-wheel drive.

We’re not trying to give GM ideas, but the numbers are lagging behind inflation. The current fifth generation Tahoe cost $ 50,295 when it was announced in February 2020. The US Bureau of Labor and Statistics’ CPI inflation calculator states that the amount has the same purchasing power of $ 57,612.02 today. Suburban’s price at launch in March 2020 could buy $ 60,033.64 worth of assets with today’s money. It’s as close to a positive side as possible.

Changes for next year for Tahoe and Suburban include the availability of Super Cruise on the penultimate Premier and the latest High Country finishes, assuming the chips remain available as well; three new paid colors in Radiant Red Tintcoat, Silver Sage Metallic and Sterling Gray Metallic; and a black grille option with Chevrolet branding for LS, LT, RST and Premier. We still don’t know how much Chevy will charge for Super Cruise, and the automaker hasn’t provided a photo of the grille yet, but it sounds like an SUV version of the unit fitted to the Silverado HD.

We are told there are big changes coming for 2024 when the updated models hit the market. Spy shots of a Suburban camouflaged in the upper trim revealed a new version of the dual-lamp configuration, with DRL above and high beams below used on products from the Bolt EV to the Blazer and the aforementioned Silverado HD. With tech revisions underway among GM’s other big truck-based products, we wouldn’t be surprised at some serious new cab features making their way into the 2024 Tahoe and Suburban as well.
