Ford already offers a V-8 nicknamed Godzilla, and soon there may be a more powerful offering under the Megazilla name.

A search of the US Patent and Trademark Office database reveals a trademark filing for “Megazilla”, which was made by Ford on September 16.

It was specifically filed under the section for speaker motors, covering both traditional internal combustion speaker motors and the new field of electric speaker motors, something Ford explored with the Eluminator electric speaker motor it unveiled at the show. SEMA 2021.

Mike Goodwin, Product Manager at Ford Performance in 2020, mentioned a new crate engine derived from the Godzilla V-8, which he called the Megazilla. It is possible that Ford is currently doing preparatory work for the engine launch, though automakers often file trademarks simply to protect the name, perhaps from use by a rival.

The Godzilla is a 7.3-liter V-8 that debuted in the 2020 Ford Super Duty. It is designed for trucks where longevity tends to be more important than actual performance and, as a result, features a block in heavy but sturdy cast iron. It is rated at 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a 10-speed automatic in the Super Duty and a 6-speed car in the medium-duty Ford trucks.

Will a future Megazilla version with forced induction show up to dethrone Mopar’s 1,000hp Hellephant? We will have to wait and see.
