Nissan will use this week’s SEMA 2022 show in Las Vegas to showcase a Frontier pickup truck powered by a V-8 engine.

The vehicle is strictly a concept, although we could see it entered into Baja-style desert racing competitions as it was developed in collaboration with Forsberg Racing, the racing team of famous drifter Chris Forsberg.

Called the Nissan Nismo Off Road Frontier V8 concept, the show truck packs a range of parts and accessories from the Nismo Off Road range that will soon be available at Nissan dealers. There are also some prototypes that Nissan could also put into production.

The concept is based on the redesigned 2022 Nissan Frontier and features the 5.6-liter V-8 found in the Nissan Armada and Titan. The engine is good for 400hp in those models, but Nissan hasn’t said what it generates in the concept. There’s a chance there might be a few more horsepower as the concept also sports a custom cold air intake and cat-back exhaust system.

The truck has a powerful stance thanks to a wide-body kit with carbon fiber front fenders and bedside tables, as well as a carbon bonnet. The kit was needed to fit the truck’s wider suspension adopting the Titan’s lower control arms, front pivots, wheel hubs and rear axle.

The suspension also features new upper control arms and Bilstein coil-over dampers, as well as a new rear leaf spring package with external reservoir Bilstein dampers. These changes help increase ground clearance and payload capacity, Nissan said.

Other upgrades include 18-inch wheels with 295/70/18 muddy tires, extra lighting, and a Warn winch. There are also prototype parts. The list includes the front bumper, rock rails, roof rack and integrated wheel holders.

This year’s SEMA show is scheduled for November 1-4. Nissan will also use the show to showcase its new Z GT4 race car, a Z with Nismo accessories and a Sunny Truck powered by the electric configuration of a Nissan Leaf.
